Europe: Faroe Islands, est. 1940

The Faroe Islands have a history dating back to their settlement by Norse Vikings in the 9th century. The islands were ruled by Norway for several centuries until they came under Danish control in 1814 as part of the Treaty of Kiel after the Napoleonic Wars. The Faroe Islands were recognised in 1940 and were granted home rule in 1948, giving them considerable autonomy while remaining part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

First used in 1919 and officially adopted during World War II under British protection in 1940, the Faroe Islands’ flag has a white field with a red Nordic cross outlined in blue. White represents the sea and sky, blue the Atlantic Ocean, and red the islands’ ties to Nordic heritage.

High quality and durable flag patches for collectors, airsofters and members of the military. Also serves as a morale patch.
