The Kingdom of Bosnia existed as a medieval kingdom from the 12th to 15th centuries before being conquered by the Ottomans in 1463. It later became part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, then joined Yugoslavia after World War I. Following the breakup of Yugoslavia, Bosnia declared independence in 1992, leading to the Bosnian War (1992-1995).
The flag, adopted on the 4. February 1998 featuring a blue field with a yellow triangle and white stars. The triangle represents Bosnia's three main ethnic groups (Bosniaks, Croats, and Serbs), and the stars symbolize Bosnia's place in Europe.
